It utilises a new technology, developed by scientists and innovators at Aqdot, a company originally spun out of the Cambridge University, to instantly eliminate bad smells.
Behind Aqdot is a husband/wife team who are two of the cofounders of the company. Having had their child and changed countless smelly nappies in the early days of their entrepreneurial journey, Dr Jing Zhang and Dr Roger Coulston realised that they had developed a technology that could potentially be used to genuinely change the way bad odours are removed in our homes for the better. They believed that it would be possible to clear odours in a more caring way, without the need to use allergy-causing fragrances or propellants, to be kinder to our families and pets.
Together with the fantastic team at Aqdot, they have now created Oderase, a fragrance-free, non-aerosol pump spray that effectively clears bathroom odours.
The technology used in Oderase is patented. Put simply, it captures bad odour molecules. The bad odour molecules in the air are quickly attracted to the Oderase odour eliminator, which in turn captures the bad odours and erases them from the air.
Oderase is different from other air fresheners because it is so effective at erasing bad odours that it does not need to contain any masking fragrances.
Commenting on the product launch, Jing, co-founder and Marketing Director of Aqdot, said, “We are so proud to have finally brought Oderase, the first fragrance-free air freshener, to the UK market. As a scientist and cofounder of the company, it is wonderful to have developed a highly effective odour eliminator powered by our proprietary technology. As a mum, it is great to now have the option of purchasing an air freshener that is fragrance-free, non-toxic and non-aerosol, kind and caring for the whole family.”
Oderase is sold in a pump action, non-aerosol spray of 100ml at £4.99. Each bottle contains up to 500 spritzes. It is currently exclusively available in Ocado.
The product has already been endorsed by the independent testing organisations Allergy UK and the Good House Keeping Institute. It is effective and fragrance free.
"As a mum, it is great to now have the option of purchasing an air freshener that is fragrance-free, non-toxic and non-aerosol, kind and caring for the whole family."
